Meet Demi and Isaac 👶🏼

Meet Demi and Isaac 👶🏼

Hey guys!

First of all, sorry for being MIA for a few days I’ve been really busy moving house and working! I hope to blog a bit more now I’m all settled in my new house.

This blog post is going to be all about my best friend Demi and her new baby Isaac. Me and Demi met back in college in 2012 and have been really close ever since, we are complete opposites but we get along so well. We studied photography together at Gateshead college and kept in touch when we finished college and we both went off to seperate universities. Even though we live seperate lives we see each other lot and still make time for each other.

So back in November (I think) I was sitting watching Pretty little liars in my flat with my flatmate Em and I got a phone call from Demi, she told me she was pregnant! I was speechless, its one of those moments where you don’t know what to say. So I asked her if she was happy about it and she was, I congratulated her and said she’d make the best Mam ever!

Then came July…

Isaac Harrison Gilby was born on the 25th July after a gruelling 18 hour labour for Dem. Her sister sent me a picture and I couldn’t wait to meet him! Those little chubby cheeks. About a week later and I went to Demi’s nanas to meet him, we spent a whole day together and he literally just slept all day but I couldn’t stop staring at him. I was so happy for her.

He’s now nearly 2 months old and has came on so much, he’s just started giggling and doing cute little smiles. I was also asked to be Isaacs guideparent a few weeks ago, with the most adorable little box and poem and a print of his feet, I was absolutely over the moon to be asked.

I’m so proud of you Demi, you’re the best mam to that little boy and he is absolutely gorgeous and so lucky to have you to bring him up. Love you both so much xox

How cute!

Moving day!

Moving day!

Hey guys,

I’ve got an early start this morning as I’m moving back to Sunderland in my new house share. I’m excited but nervous as I have to spend the first few days alone and my housemates who I’ve never met don’t move in till next Friday..

So the morning started at my Mams house, getting all of my crap out of my bedroom and downstairs ready to load the van we have hired because I’ve got a lot of crap. It’s about a 45 minute drive to the new house, I pick up my keys at half 10 and then the unloading and unpacking can begin! I also need to go shopping because there’s still a few bits I need for the house and I’ll need to fill my cupboards.

I’ll keep you updated and post pictures once my bedrooms all pretty, for now here’s a picture of my Mams living room currently covered in my crap 😊

Busy busy day!

Rigevidon

Rigevidon

Hey guys!

Let’s talk about contraception..

I recently went on the combined mini pill, I’ve been in a relationship for 7 years and have just went on the pill, I know I know it’s really bad.

I’ve been on the pill for about a week now. At first I was really nervous because I’ve heard some horror stories and some of my own friends have got pregnant even being on the pill. I’m also the most forgetful person ever so having a pill I need to take everyday terrifies me too but so far so good as I’ve got an alarm on my phone that reminds me.

I’ve already started to break out around my neck and face but don’t know if that’s my course of steroids I’m currently on as I’ve not been on the pill long.

I’m curious to know peoples experiences with Rigevidon. Did you experience side effects? Did you switch pills?

Let me know!

September goals

September goals

As if it’s September already.. this year has gone so quick! September is going to be a busy month, I’m moving house, starting uni for the second time and continuing my part time job all while doing a teaching placement at Gateshead College it’s going to be hectic but I honestly can’t wait to be back in education as I’ve been so bored and obviously lost without student loan ha!

So here’s some goals for this month

Personal

The same as August I need to keep ontop of drinking more water as it’s doing wonders for my skin and my colitis too as it’s much better than fizzy pop.

Get to know my new housemates! I’m moving to a new house next Friday in Sunderland into a house share. This is something I’m so nervous about because I’ve only ever lived with my Mam, my boyfriend or my best friend last year so this will be a real challenge for me. I hope we become good friends and enjoy living together but time will tell!

Enjoy photography again. Ever since I finished my degree I’ve done a few weddings but I haven’t been enjoying them as much lately. I’m currently not doing any until December but hopefully with me teaching photography in a college it will reignite my passion for photography.

Education

Enjoy my course! I’m so nervous to start my PCET course in teacher training because I have no idea what to expect. I’ve had a little experience teaching 15 year olds but never 16-18 year olds in a college so I’m nervous but excited to see how I do and I really hope I fall in love with teaching.

Health

So, I’m almost finished my 6 week course of steroids and I have my checkup appointment this Wednesday. All going well I’ll be sent away to be seen next year and my medication will continue to work. I just need to still remember to take it and keep ontop of it.

Relationship

This month is going to be challenging for me and Matthew, I’m moving away to Sunderland again and he goes back to university in Teesside, he’s only on his second year so he’s in five days a week, I’m working weekends and attending uni 3 days a week and placement 1 day a week so it will be tricky to see each other but I’m sure we will work something out. We always do.

That’s about it for now.. busy month ahead!

August goals update

August goals update

So as it’s the end of August it’s time to see if I completeled my goals..

My first was to drink more water which I definitely do now, I buy a bottle everyday for work instead of fizzy pop and drink it during my shift. I also have one glass of water every morning when taking my medication so it’s a start!

My second was to get out and do more and go walking. I’ve definitely completed this, I walk to the train station everyday for work which is about half an hour downhill and half an hour uphill on my way back.

My third was to see my best friends Demi, Emma and Sophie more. I’ve see quite a lot of Demi and adorable little Isaac and we’re going for a meal tomorrow which will be nice. I seen Em and Sophie for cocktails but were all so busy working, Sophie moves back to Sunderland soon so I’ll definitely see more of her and we will invite Em over to stay in Sunderland once we both have houses sorted!

My fifth was health related, I needed to get better at taking my medication. I now have a morning routine where I wake up, have breakfast, a glass of water and take my medications. Go me!

My sixth was for academic purposes, to read my teaching books for my PCET course. I have purchased them and began them so this goal is in progress..
Overall it’s been a pretty good month, how has yours been?

Tomorrow I’ll write my goals for September, a busy month for me as I’m moving house, starting university again and my teaching placement alongside my current part time job.

Every degree is worthwhile

Every degree is worthwhile

Hey everyone,

I was on Facebook this morning scrolling down my newsfeed and I came across an article posted by cosmopolitan about the percentage of students who think their degree wasn’t worth the time or money. Of course doing an arts degree (photography) I knew mine would be a high percentage and no surprise it was second. Here’s the chart

So that’s almost half of arts students who think their degree was not worth it. Personally, I think my degree was worth the three years I studied it for however it is a hard industry to break into as all creative industries are. Having a degree puts you ahead of the competition, shows commitment and motivation in an individual and shows that you’ve accomplished something amazing. It’s sad to think that students think they’ve wasted their time at uni and spent so much money on something they can’t see themselves having a career in, lots of students will go into work that has nothing to do with their degree but it doesn’t matter! It’s all about learning new things and gaining new experiences and if that means you get an amazing career in your specified degree then that’s great but if you don’t it’s not the end of the world!

So never think your degree has no worth because you’ve done something amazing.

Meet Cassie 🐶

Meet Cassie 🐶

Hey!

This is a first of a series of introductory blog posts. I thought it was time I introduce you to some people in my life who mean everything to me.

First up is Cassie, she’s my dog and my child. She’s a bijon frise and is an absolute cutie and the softest dog you could ever meet. She gets so excited about everything and mainly just sleeps and eats.

Today we went for a walk to Wylam, I went with my partners dad and his dog. We walked all the way along the river and back and all together it was 4,943 steps! We were just about to get in the car and I look back and Cassie is rolling in mud, of course she would.

I came back and had to bath her, she has a love hate relationship with baths and always gives me evils when I’m bathing her. After she has a mad half hour where she runs around soaking wet and then sleeps until she’s dry.

Here’s some pictures of my baby

Next up, I’ll be introducing you to my fiancé and childhood sweetheart (lol puke) of 7 years and talk a little about our relationship.

Do you have a cute pet?

Lazy Wednesday

Lazy Wednesday

Hey,

So I had the day off from work today and had an actual full day to spend with Matthew, we live together for now but hardly spend any actual time together.

We woke up early, got showered and ready and then headed down to the high street near his home for some dinner. It’s a little cafe we go to and although it isn’t much we always enjoy the food there. Matthew opted for his own breakfast where he basically just orders two of everything and I went for a beef burger with salad and chips (typical)

The food was yummy and I ordered extra gravy so I can dip it in my chips. It was Matthews treat so that was nice of him. We then went along the high street and had a look in a few of the shops and bought a few bits of bobs. Then went to the co-op and got some essentials for the house, men get so stressed when it comes to shopping it’s not a hard job to do!

We walked back home and I got my essential slush from the little corner shop. I honestly think I have a problem. We watched a film and snuggled in bed and ate some doughnuts. Tonight is leonardos night – Wednesday nights me, Matthew and his dad order from our local takeaway as a mid week treat

I’m back to work tomorrow until Saturday, I only do 4 hour shifts but the travel means I’m out the house for most of the day and often too tired when I get home so I usually end up falling asleep if we put a film on.

It’s been lovely to spend a whole day together 😊

What did you get up to today?
